WHAT A WONDERFUL YEAR FOR WAXWINGS!
These delightful, exotic, 'punky' birds have been a real inspiration for me this year. They are not regular visitors to my neck of the woods here in Birmingham but this year they came in their hundreds, feasting on the abundant berries in parks and gardens. I have created a series of paintings that depict the time waxwings spend on our shores - arriving at the end of autumn on our eastern coasts, enjoying the fruits of a British winter and leaving as our trees and shrubs burst into flower. These and a whole host of cards and prints will be on sale at my next exhibition at Birdfair in Rutland in August.
